How Will You Grow?

There is a decided nip in the air of evenings here in Connecticut. A preview of what’s to come, though we can’t be sure there won’t be more scorching late summer days in between. My thoughts turn to the fall and winter, and what this busier time of year may bring. For independent artists, scheduling what’s next and figuring out how to fuel your career is a huge task. But with a little forward planning, you can keep your practice going – and growing – 24/7/365.

MacDowell is accepting applications for transformative residency experiences. Selection is highly competitive, based on achievements, work samples, and project proposals. Prepare carefully and visit the website for more information. Deadline to apply is September 10.

Portland artists of all disciplines may apply for IFCC Project Grants in amounts ranging from $6k–$10k or Residencies for nine of weeks studio space. Residencies also feature public events, showcases, festivals, and community-building opportunities honoring North/Northeast Portland’s cultural legacy. For more details, visit the website. Hayama Artist Residency offers global visual artists four weeks in Japan with airfare, housing, and $800 stipend. Open to artists 21+. For more information, visit the website. Deadline to apply is September 30.
