“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
-JRR Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
It sounds so simple, nothing to do but make a choice about how to use our time. But, of course, life rarely hands us clear paths or easy answers. Maria Antelman joined us to talk about Conjurer, her recent show at Yancey Richardson. The works in this show, completed over the last five years, combine elements of human figures, nature, and sculpture in compelling montages that each seem to tell their own story. To learn more about her work, listen to the complete interview.
Brendan Fernandes spoke about his recent show, Duet, on view at Susan Inglett Gallery until October 11. With a dance background, Fernandes drew on the concept of bodies in collaboration, and on a more intimate level the work examines elements of the queer narrative, from cruising to the legacy of fighting for freedom and rights.
