Are You Meeting Your Own Expectations?

The final push of the year is upon us, and for many this can be the busiest season of them all. For artists, it is important to find ways to balance the demands of the holidays with your practice and career, and you must begin planning – if you have not already – for what’s to come in 2023. Line ’em up, as they say. Seek out opportunities to grow and enrich yourself, your work and your career. Never stop moving. As an independent artist, it is your job to keep that momentum up.

Artists are invited to apply for a year-long Engaging Artists fellowship. In their own words:

ENGAGING ARTISTS (EA) is More Art’s 2-tiered, Fellowship and Commission program for artists seeking to both develop and sustain their public art and socially-engaged practice. The program curriculum encompasses a professional development series, public art commission opportunities, mentorship, and peer networking.”

For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is December 1.

Mesa Refuge invites artists to apply for spring residency. The program welcomes diverse creators for two-week residency periods without a fee. Selected artists are responsible for their own travel, transportation and food. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is December 1.

Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) offers full scholarships for artists who wish to complete residency. In their own words:

“Atlantic Center for the Arts is an innovative nonprofit artists-in-residence program that provides artists with an opportunity to work, collaborate, and be mentored by some of the world’s most distinguished artists in the visual, literary and performing arts. Since the program began in 1982, over 3500 artists have been served from the US and worldwide.”

For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline is December 4.
