Don’t Get Snowed Under

“Winter is coming.” -George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones

Winter has a way of sharpening our senses, especially when the forecast hints at something legendary. As the Northeast braces for the possibility of historic snowfall this weekend, it feels like the perfect moment to lean into the season’s drama. In the art world, winter isn’t just a backdrop it’s a catalyst. It slows us down, heightens contrast, and invites bold ideas to surface, quietly, fiercely, and with a little magic in the air.

Isaac Lythgoe joined us to talk about Everyone’s a Bad Guy, his show at Kutlesa Gallery, running until March 21. This is a mixed media exhibition, built out from a central sculpture based loosely on a hybrid of the big bad wolf and Cerebus. To learn more, listen to the complete interview.

Janet Echelman chatted with us for a second time – having joined us once in 2016. This time we discussed, among other things, a new book she has released entitled Radical Softness: The Responsive Art of Janet Echelman. The book is a collection of 30 contributors’ short essays about her work, including Swizz Beats, who, along with his wife Alicia Keys, recently had their collection of Echelman’s art at the Brooklyn Museum. A Few Words to Keep in Your Pocket.
