There is an undeniable romance about the life of an artist. But the stark truth is that there is also the struggle, the constant search for funding, the day jobs, the anxiety over money – all these things are a real and far less alluring piece of a career in the arts. Grant opportunities are all around you if you know where to look. And while you may not get the first grant you apply for (or the second…or the 10th) it is important not to be deterred. Keep going. This is all part of the path.
