What Are You Putting Off?

“Never is an awfully long time.” -J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

As the new year opens, it reminds us that time has a way of slipping past our best intentions. It doesn’t mean to rush us or demand sweeping change, it simply happens, but perhaps we can let this knowledge nudge us toward what we’ve been postponing, whether it’s conversations, ideas, rest, or simple joys we keep promising ourselves we’ll get to eventually.

James Horner joined us to discuss Making of an American Dandy, his upcoming show at Amos Eno Gallery. For this retrospective exhibition, Horner spent a great deal of time digging through his entire body of work, a process he found tremendously enlightening as he rediscovered what he was doing decades ago. In a sense, the show encapsulates the history of queer culture through the lens of Horner’s art. To learn more, listen to the complete interview.

Elijah Gowin talked with us about Spirit and Shadow, his current exhibition at Robert Mann Gallery. The show consists of two series – one about snow illuminated in darkness, the other a 10 year project photographing fireflies. Both have a poetic sense of light in the darkness, a visual theme that informs the ethereal title of the exhibition. To learn about this show and Gowin’s photographic process, listen to the complete interview.

A Few Words to Keep in Your Pocket.

The year ahead is wide and unwritten, but it begins here, in the smallest choices we’re willing to make now.
