What are Your Plans for the New Year?

A new year approaches. This is a time when many of us close out our projects from the previous year and begin to think about what may be in store as we move forward. Of course, we carry with us the work we have been toiling at throughout the year, perhaps for many years, but the new year is a perfect moment to consider new opportunities and allow oneself a moment to refresh and reset. Read on for opportunities coming your way in 2020.

Artists who are parents of at least one child under the age of 18 are invited to apply for the Parent Residency Grant at Women’s Studio Workshop. This program offers a stipend to cover childcare during the four weeks of residency, whether that means bringing along a co-parent or caregiver or arranging for childcare in the area where residency takes place. Those interested should read the full details at the program website. Deadline is January 15.

Chanorth invites artists, writers, choreographers and other creatives to apply for residency. There is a cost for residency but the program includes a considerable amount of community engagement. Additionally, each artist is asked to put in a few hours work each week on an organic farm nearby, in exchange for which, the residency kitchen is stocked with fresh, organic produce and grains. Artists who are residents of New York State are invited to apply for residency at Institute for Electronic Arts. Residency includes a one time materials budget, a small travel budget and a generous weekly stipend. Generally a single artist is accepted at one time. For more information, visit the website.
