What Does Opportunity Look Like?

Opportunity takes many forms. It can mean the chance to see the world, to have your art viewed by many or to learn new things. Opportunity can mean networking or finding a mentor. But opportunity rarely finds the artist. Rather the artist must seek the opportunity. As a career artist, part of your regular practice must be dedicated to seeking out the opportunities that are right for you. While you won’t receive a yes every time, the very practice of submitting to opportunities is, in itself, a growing experience. It will become easier as time goes by (though every artist, even the most established, feels the sting of rejection) and there will be opportunities out there that are just right for you.
