Can You See The Road Ahead?

What is the next stage in your journey? As a career artist, while there may be some elements of spontaneity, it is important to have some idea where you’re going. The romance of art is, of course, in part, its unpredictability, but when the business is you, there must be some guardrails. Here are a few opportunities to set you in the right direction as you move onward and upward.

Vilnius Academy of Arts, the cultural centre SODAS 2123 and the Lithuanian Interdisciplinary Artists’ Association (LTMKS) invite artists to apply for participation in their artistic and research symposium, Walking is Still Honest. They describe the meaning behind this in their own words:

The current ecological and migration crises, the post-pandemic situation and new forms of virtual coexistence, growing cities and new urban planning solutions, which change our daily trajectories or restrict natural human movement altogether – all this sets the context for the growing artistic and scholarly interest in walking and its meaning in our lives, communities and societies.

For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for submissions is June 15.

Stove Works invites application for residency from February through November of each year. Eight artists are chosen to live and work for one to three months at a time, taking a break from the daily pressures of life to focus on dedicated time, space, resources and community in furtherance of their craft. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is June 15.

Mophradat invites artists to consider joining Self-Organizations, a program that aims to encourage inventive collaboration. Ultimately, the intention is to spark productive conversations, nurture collaboration and create new experiences through art. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Note that priority will be given to artists from the Arab world. Deadline for applications is June 15.
