Are You Uncertain? You Should Be…

They say the only thing certain in life is uncertainty. For those who throw their chips into a life as a professional artist, this may be even more true. Every year, every month, every week, every day, and even every hour can be unlike the last and entirely unpredictable. That’s where the world of arts opportunities comes in. By ensuring that you are always seeking out something and lining up your next sources of funding, exhibition, and enrichment – you can at least attempt to stay ahead of the game. Here are a few to get you started:

The Lumen Prize, now in its 14th year, has awarded over $100K in prizes, fostering global artist opportunities. Partnering with Lumen Studio, the Lumen Prize works to orchestrate exhibitions, commissions, and events worldwide. For more information, visit the website. Deadline is May 25.

Art in Odd Places seeks artists, performers, and caretakers for its 2024 event, CARE, along 14th Street, NYC. We welcome individuals and collectives to design collaborative projects for the festival, which will offer stations of care for all. To learn more, visit the website. Deadline is May 26.

Prospect Art seeks global artists for its ONE WORK & NEW WORK programs. This year they seek work that emphasizes themes of the environment, climate change and human impact on the planet. NEW WORK offers $1000 grants for innovative projects while ONE WORK selects a single work of art for its monthly feature on recent artworks. To learn more, visit the website. Deadline for proposals is May 26.

Praxis Center understands that art is more than a career, it’s a calling. We also understand that finding the path forward in that calling can be a challenge. That’s why we continuously work to assemble the best thinkers, skills, tools and resources from across the art world to help you feel confident as you pursue this calling. Give Praxis a try today and see how far it can take you.
