Get it Before it’s Gone

Summer is flitting by quickly. Before you know it the fall will be here and deadlines for 2020 will be upon us. Believe it or not, the residencies of next year are filling up today. If you want your chance to enrich your artistic career in the coming year, the time is now to throw your hat in the ring. Here are a few residencies with upcoming deadlines to get you started.

Calling all artists interesting in spending time in the French Riviera – Cassis Artist Residency is currently accepting applications from international artists. Residency runs from mid-November 2019-mid-March 2020, though artists are welcome to choose their own duration of residency period. Artists receive one meal a day and pay a small fee to stay at the facility. Collaboratives are welcome. For full details and to apply, visit the website. Deadline is August 11.

Performing artists are invited to apply for the 2019 Cross Award. In their own words:

CROSS Award is an international award, born in 2014 from an idea by Tommaso Sacchi and aimed at early works in the field of performing arts (dance, theatre, music). The award aims to stimulate the investigation and artistic expression related to the union of different styles and genres, evaluating as a rewarding factors the multi-language practices and the commingling of techniques and codes related to the various performing arts. The aim of the competition is to identify new productions that bring into dialogue the languages of the body and of the stage action with the

Jan Van Eycke Academie has a current call for applications to their upcoming residency period. Eligibility is as follows:

— Artists, designers, curators, (landscape) architects, writers, fashion designers
— Participants are generally between 26–41 years of age.
— Artists who previously have been in resident at another post academic institute (Rijksakademie, De Ateliers) in the Netherlands, cannot apply for a work period at the Van Eyck.
— Duo’s or collectives can apply with 1 project proposal for 1 residency at the Van Eyck.
