What are you getting up to this year? If you aren’t sure yet, it’s past time to sort that out. With spring on the way here in the northern hemisphere, now is the time for renewal, for seeking out new ways of furthering your career. As part of your regular practice, you absolutely should be seeking out and applying for opportunities as they come along. Here, as every week, are a few to get you started on your search.
Artists are invited to apply to the ARMSTRONG NOW Artist-in-Residence program, which, in their own words:
“contextualizes Louis Armstrong’s contributions within historical and 21st Century constellations of Black making, thinking, and vitality.“
This opportunity provides a platform for emerging artists to create new work inspired by the collection in the Armstrong Archives. To learn more about this opportunity and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is April 1.
SVA NYC offers residencies for artists in search of time, space and a supportive community in which to develop ideas and focus on their artistic direction. In addition to studio residencies, they offer professional immersion programs in which artists can explore and engage further. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Application is April 1.
Wassaic Project offers both a winter residency for individual artists, collaborative teams and groups of two or more individual artists, as well as a family residency, which offers the opportunity for artists to live full time in a home with their family while participating fully in residency. For information on both, click the links above. Deadlines vary, but can be found on each page.
