Create the life you want. Believe it is possible and take the steps to make it so. For artists, one of the biggest stumbling blocks is where to find funding in order to have access to materials, studio space and even the time needed to establish a regular practice. Grants are the artist’s best tool when it comes to making your dreams a reality. A grant can help open up time and space, offer funds for much-needed supplies or even pay for other parts of your life while you devote attention to your work. Below are a few opportunities to consider.
Artists age 21 and over who are working to intentionally better their communities and/or address community challenges through their work are invited to apply for the Artwork Archive Art Business Accelerator Grant. Ten artists will receive grants of $2500 each to help them build a sustainable art career. Winners also receive a lifetime membership at Art Archive valued at $1000. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is May 14.
Pollock-Krasner Grants offer artists the opportunity to create new work, purchase materials, pay studio rent and even purchase personal items. Any artist is invited to apply and should be prepared to submit along with the application a cover letter, current resume including exhibition record and ten digital images with a corresponding identification list.
