Need Funding? Find it Here

Artists need funding. It’s a fact of life that just can’t be got around. Whether to travel, exhibit or simply move forward in your career, funding is an all-important component of any artistic career. But sometimes it can feel overwhelming to think about where to find grants, let alone apply for them. Read on for three funding opportunities that just might be right for you.

The European Cultural Foundation is launching a special year of grants. As of February 2019, submissions for grant applications are being accepted until funding runs out. Anyone from around the world can send proposals, provided they meet the criteria of this call to action. For further information and to apply, please visit the website. And be sure to read through the FAQ section as it answers many questions pertaining to this special year. Deadlines are rolling as long as funding is available. First come, first served.

Jerwood Bursaries invites artists who have established their practice within the last 1-5 years to apply for funding. While the cycle for more established artists (those who established their practice 6-10 years ago) closed in early March, emerging artists can apply until early October. Funding is intended to help artists progress their progress and/or practice. For full details, visit the website. Deadline for emerging artists is October 7.

The European Cultural Foundation invites artists from eligible countries to apply for STEP Travel Grants. STEP stands for “Supporting Travel for Engaged Partnerships” and grants are intended to help artists experience new places and cultures to enrich their understanding of the world and their practice. Be sure to read through the eligibility criteria before applying. Grant cycle is open all year.
