New Year, New You? OK, Maybe Not. But What’s Next?

A new year brings with it new opportunity. Sometimes, motivation can benefit from a little last-minute flurry, so we have included a flash opportunity in this week’s roundup. For many this is a time of renewed energy, though for others, particularly because in the northern hemisphere the new year arrives in the dark of winter, it can be a time of decreased energy. Whatever you are feeling, take time to consider what’s next. Be good to yourself and keep your expectations reasonable.

Flash opportunity the MacDowell Fellowship offers awards to 300 artists based solely on artistic excellence. With no residency fees, the program offers need-based stipends and travel grants, fostering a diverse community across architecture, film, literature, music, theatre, and visual arts. The Sculpture Center seeks emerging artists from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, western Pennsylvania, western New York, or Ontario (by birth, residency, or education) for its 2025 Revealed series. Early career sculptors, installation and mixed media artists, and performers can apply for a funded solo exhibition. BIPOC, LGBTQ+ individuals, and underrepresented talents are encouraged. NXTHVN seeks seven artists and two curators for its 10-month Fellowship Program, providing paid opportunities, including studio space, stipends, and housing. Applicants join a mentorship-based curriculum in New Haven. Selected fellows mentor local high schoolers, fostering creative growth, culminating in a group gallery showcase.
