No Time To Quit…

Here in the northeast, autumn is in full splendor. It’s nature’s last hurrah before the dormancy of winter. No matter where you are, there are always times when the rhythm of things slows. But that doesn’t mean you have to! While it’s important to give yourself time to rest and recharge, as a career artist, it is also up to you to have your next opportunities lined up at all times. If you know where to look, finding opportunities becomes a matter of routine rather than something to be feared and dreaded. And while you won’t land every one you attempt, it’s important to keep trying because the very act of putting yourself out there is beneficial in so many ways.

The A.I.R. Fellowship Program invites underrepresented and emerging women and non-binary artists to apply. Six artists are selected for a year-long fellowship to develop and exhibit at A.I.R. Gallery. For more information and to apply, visit the website. Deadline for applications is November 1.

Artists are invited to apply for the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery fellowship program. Residential fellowships allow for full-time research in the Smithsonian collections as part of the oldest and largest program of its kind in the world. For more information, visit the website. Sculptors are invited to apply for the Stanley Bleifeld Memorial Grant, a $5,000 prize sponsored by the National Sculpture Society. This grant, intended for a mature body of work, recognizes “a sculptor who has demonstrated outstanding ability…and who has create a body of work inspired by nature, which includes works of sculpture in the round and in bas-relief.” For more information and to apply, visit the website.
