You can decide to make this the year that you actively schedule grant applications into your regular schedule. It’s what every artist needs to do in order to survive and the sooner you adopt this practice, the better. To get you going, here are a few grants with upcoming or rolling cycles for you to consider. Don’t wait another day.

Artist Grant provides a one-time $500 award to a visual artist four times each year. The grant is open to all visual artists aged 18 or older working in any media. Note that theater, dance and music are not eligible. There are separate deadlines for each quarter. The first upcoming deadline is January 15 followed by the 15th of April, July and October for the other three cycles.

Joan Mitchell Foundation offers emergency grants to artists in the US who have suffered substantial loss due to natural or man-made disasters. Artists working in the media of painting, sculpture and/or drawing are eligible to apply. Due to a high volume in 2018, applications are currently closed but will resume on January 14. Deadlines are rolling and awards are based on need. Be sure to understand the complete details of the grant before applying.

Praxis Center is committed to helping artists find their way. It’s what we do every day and we have seen the incredible results that happen when our students decide the time is right to take matters into their own hands. So what’s the Praxis advantage? When you join for $40/month you not only receive access to a suite of courses designed with career artists in mind covering topics they didn’t teach you about in art school – you also get the help of experts in the field there to guide you along the way. What’s more, you tap into a community of peers who support each other every day. Make today the day you decide not to wait any longer.
