Stop Standing Still

Time keeps moving, ever forward, ever steady. For artists this means there is no time to wait – opportunities are coming your way every moment of every day. Seize them. Will you land every one you apply for? Absolutely not. Does that mean you shouldn’t try, absolutely not. Rejection is part of the deal, dust off, get up and go for it again. Here are a few to get you started.

Goldrausch Kunstlerinnenprojekt was founded to help counteract the structural discrimination faced by women artists. The course, in their own words, “combines practical tasks with various insights into the art world and the continuous training of presentation techniques and communication strategies. This includes the design of an individual website, studio talks and discussions of artwork. Also part of the curriculum are basic knowledge about self-employment, public relations and project planning, the creation of a catalogue and a group exhibition.” Women of all ages and working across all artistic disciplines are encouraged to apply. For more information, visit the website. Deadline for applications is September 15.

Artists are invited to apply for Innovate Grants. These $550 grants are intended to offer financial support to help ignite creative development. There are four grant cycles per year with the current deadline approaching. For more information, visit the website. Deadline is September 15.

Artists are invited to apply to Frappant e.V. with exhibition concepts for the Frappant Gallery in 2023. This non-commercial white cube sits in a co-op center for alternative culture, education, creative industries and social affairs in Hamburg-Altona.
