What If It Doesn’t Have To Be All At Once?

“The faster we walk, the more ground we lose.”

-Iain Sinclair, Lights Out for the Territory: 9 Excursions in the Secret History of London

It’s tempting to rush through decisions, days, even seasons of life thinking speed will get us where we want to go faster. Sophie Haulman joined us to discuss Every Month Grass Came, her recent show at Eleventh Hour Art. The title of this show was inspired by poetic refrigerator magnet packs and is an homage to Haulman’s younger brother who passed from an overdose a few years back. The words themselves hold up a photo of her brother on the refrigerator, over time coming to serve as a reminder of the passage of time, growth, and change. Samuel Guy chatted with us about Hitchhike from Saginaw, his recent show at Auxier Klein Gallery. The base of this and a previous show at Auxier Klein is his work with self-portraiture, however while the first show was very much the beginning of this work while this most recent body of work heightened the element of performance in the character driven pieces.
