Will You Move Forward?

Take heart, spring is upon us. Here in the northeast U.S., winter’s chill holds its grip a little longer, but the light grows daily and green shoots begin to poke their intrepid heads above ground. Now is the time for growth to begin, for momentum to be upheld, for advancement and achievement. Build time into your routine to seek out those opportunities that can enrich and enhance your artistic career. Here are a few residency opportunities to get you started.

Santa Fe Art Institute invites artists to apply for a climate change themed residency. In their own words:

“The 2023 International Thematic Residency, Changing Climate, addresses the most critical issue of our time. For the Changing Climate Open Call, SFAI seeks to support artistic exploration, creative activism, and community art actions related to global warming that inspire individual transformation and inform collective action.

New York Art Residency and Studios (NARS) Foundation Artist in Residency is currently accepting applications from emerging and mid-career artists and curators across all disciplines. During three and six-month residencies, international and U.S.-based artists will access private or shared studio space within a diverse community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, NY. Fire Island Artist Residency is currently accepting applications. This was the first residency in the U.S. exclusively for artists who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer. Selected emerging artists will share a live/work space for four weeks and have access to studio visits and lecturs with renowned leaders in contemporary art, scholarship, activism and curation.
