There is no time like the start of a new year to seek out new opportunities and make a plan to move forward in your artistic career. As the old year winds down and the new one begins, explore how you might use your time in 2022 to build up the career you’ve always dreamed of. Here are a few opportunities to get you motivated.

The Locarno Film Festival invites artists to submit their work for consideration as the poster and central visual theme for this year’s festival. In addition to seeing their work at the core of Locarno 75, the selected artist will receive 5,000 Swiss francs. For more information and to submit your work, visit the website. Africa No Filter invites African visual storytellers living and working in Africa who have worked with 360 video, augmented, virtual or mixed reality to apply for grants of up to $30,000 to tell their stories. Whitstable Bienalle invites emerging artists to submit proposals for new work to be included in the June 2022 event. Two commissions are available – one for a work that will bring audiences through the town of Whitstable and one that will be experienced by passengers on-board boat trips from Whitstable harbor. If you are an artist who is within the first 10 years of establishing practice and has reached an important phase in the development of your career, this might be the opportunity for you.
