As a career artist, it is your responsibility to factor into your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedule time to work on applications for career advancing opportunities. Organization is key in these tasks. You must be able to track deadlines and maintain progress toward them. For all artists, grants are an important component of funding and the application for and acquisition of should be considered part of your normal routine. Other opportunities such as residencies hold a different value in that they enrich you as an artist and help advance your personal or professional standing in some way. Each week we strive to bring you a small handful of quality opportunities.
Artists interested in exploring the nude human body are invited to apply for the Naked State residency. Those selected for residency along with the residency facilitator will live as naturists at the Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in Ontario, Canada. They will explore questions about the nude human form during the course of residency including What is nudity? Does stripping away clothing rid us of class, gender, and personal expression?; Do the connections between our bodies and the land change when nude? For more information, visit the website. The Adolph and Esther Gottleib Foundation is accepting applications for individual support grants. The foundation awards grants to mature artists which is defined as those who have been working for 20 years or more in a mature phase of art. Last year, the foundation awarded $25,000 grants to 12 artists. For complete details and to apply, visit the foundation’s website. Deadline for application submissions is December 15.
The Puffin Foundation Ltd. awards grants to emerging artists whose work may not be easily seen due to genre or social philosophy. Presently the foundation is accepting applications for the 2019 grant cycle. In 2019 grants will be available to those in the fields of Fine Arts and Video/Film.
