The end of the year fast approaches. That means it’s time to start thinking ahead to 2019 and lining up opportunities. Whether you envision a year of traveling the world, hopping from residency to residency or hope to land a grant to further your pursuits at home, the time is most definitely now to lay the groundwork for later. nctm e l’arte is a scholarship fund available every six months to artists residing in Italy who have been accepted to a residency program outside Italy. The 10,000 Euro prize is intended to promote international mobility for artists. Conditions apply once grant has been awarded. For complete details, visit the website. Contemporary Craft invites artists whose work deals in some way with food justice to apply to their forthcoming exhibition FOOD JUSTICE: Growing a Healthier Community Through Art. The exhibition is open to artists at any age or stage within the US and abroad. Contemporary Craft posts the following about the exhibition:

Food security is among the most basic of human needs, but contemporary issues preventing equitable access to food are extremely complex. Economic inequality and structural racism, corporate agricultural practices, food waste, climate change, and domestic and geopolitics are among the many factors that contribute to the growing disparity in the distribution of food resources across the US and around the globe. 521,750 Pennsylvania children and nearly 1 in 7 of our neighbors in Pittsburgh’s Allegheny County are “food insecure,” lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food.

Deadline for entry is December 7.

Burning Man offers Global Art Grants to new and emerging artists. In their own words, they select art that is ” accessible to the public, civic in scope and prompts the viewer to act. We like art that can be experienced in more ways than visually – art that is touched, heard or experienced as well as viewed.” Grants awarded from the Global Arts Grant fund are not intended for art that will be created or a part of the Burning Man festival.
