Do You Need Help?

Who helps you? At the end of the day, when you really think about it, who are the people in your world that make sure you’re still afloat? For a lot of those who are building their own art careers, it may very well be the case that the person who helps you most is – plain and simple – you. Choosing an art career means being your own motivator, mover and shaker, boss, employee and champion. But there are support systems out there if you know where to look.

The Luminarts Visual Arts Fellowship awards $10,000 to one-time recipients, with additional funding and development opportunities. Finalists receive $300. For more information, visit the website. Deadline for applications is January 10.

The RecologyKC AIR program offers King County artists a four-month residency to create art from reusable materials, promoting sustainability, with stipends, resources, and a final public exhibition. Visit the website to learn more. Application deadline is January 13.

Anderson Center offers multiple opportunities:

The Winter Retreat offers a fee-based residency for artists to work in a peaceful setting, January 8–February 4, 2025.

Minnesota-Salzburg Artist Exchange provides a 4-week visual arts residency in Austria with a stipend, July 2025; travel excluded.

The General Artist Residency invites global artists for interdisciplinary residencies in August or October 2025, with meals and collaboration included.

Early Career Artist Residency supports emerging Minnesota and NYC artists with stipends, travel aid, and documentation, August or October 2025.

The Deaf Artists Residency fosters ASL-centric creative exchange for Deaf artists, returning in 2026 with applications opening Fall 2025.
