Sandi Landed a Solo Show – and YOU can too

Art is meant to be seen. That’s why it is imperative that, as a professional artist, you put in the effort to approach galleries and answer open calls. You will not be invited to show in every exhibition you submit to, but you will be invited to show. All it takes is persistence on your part and making the right connections. Praxis student Sandi recently received exciting news about a submission she made during the winter. In her own words:

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share a success with you. In February, I had submitted a proposal for a solo show at the Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico for their 2020 season. I got the call today telling me I was chosen and will have a solo show from October 9-November 15, 2020. They were effusive in their praise of my work, which was really nice-and I really needed to hear. This will be my series based on Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead. This a large series of large paintings. It’s hard to get them placed because of their size. So, I am thrilled….

At Praxis Center, we know that the right show is out there, you just have to find it. Putting your art into the world takes a measure of patience and a whole lot of courage. Every time you are told no, simply take this as your cue to move onto the next opportunity. Do not let rejection get you down – it happens to everyone. Ultimately there will be galleries that want to show your work. And when you join Praxis Center, you gain access to skills and tools to help you identify and approach these places. There’s an exhibition out there with your name on it, don’t you think it’s time you found it?
